About

Born and raised in verdant New Hampshire, I attended the University of New Hampshire
where I majored in English with a focus on creative writing.  At UNH I had the good
fortune to take classes from Charles Simic, Mekeel McBride and Thomas Williams. In
addition, I minored in religious studies and political science.  After graduating, I moved
to sultry Houston, Texas where I worked for ten years as a chef before transitioning into
education.  A few years ago, I earned a masters in counseling from the University of
Houston-Victoria and shortly thereafter left the classroom to work as a high school
counselor.

Inspired by my many years of teaching, Son of a Kitchen Witch practically wrote itself. It is a fast-paced urban fantasy telling the story of the teenage son of a witch who navigates the perilous terrain of young love and high school drama while being hunted by a pack of hellhounds.

When I'm not writing, I read anything I can get my hands on. I am also an unabashed
tree-hugger who feels a great responsibility to be a voice for future generations so they
too may enjoy the beauty of nature. Finally, I have run multiple marathons and now have
my sights on my first ultra-marathon.
